Marburg virus disease in Tanzania

The Tanzania Ministry of Health reported 15 confirmed Marburg virus disease (MVD) cases and two deaths in Biharamulo district, Kagera Region since 19 January 2025. The World Health Organization and other agencies are supporting outbreak control measures in the region. A travel advisory has been issued for local and international travellers visiting the Kagera region including online surveillance forms and temperature checks on departure.
